Superior Engineered Flooring Direct from Italy
Engineered wood flooring is composed of two main layers, a hard-wood top layer and an engineered base layer.
The Hard-Wood Top Layer
(4mm) The top face layer of your chosen hardwood is what determines the final appearance. This layer is usually 4mm thick. To ensure your first impression of a Proparq floor is nothing less than a vision of beauty, the top layer of timber is subject to several inspections by skilled experts throughout the production process. Top layer timbers are available in: Oak and other Native Timber Species; Canadian Maple, Mahogany (Cabreuva), Iroko, Doussie, Black Walnut, Wenge, South East Asian and African Teak. |
High Quality Birch-Wood Multi Layer
(10-12mm) The multi-layered base core plays an important functional role, providing a stable support to the hard-wood top layer. The engineered base layer is made of high quality marine grade Birchwood Ply imported from Finland and is usually between 7-9 layers (10mm), under your hard-wood top layer. Each Birch layer is glued together at right angles creating a cross-grained arrangement. This balances the natural stresses within the timber, to give a stable, flexible floor that has a resistance to weathering and humidity and eliminates issues such as twisting, crushing, warping, shrinkage, swelling and compression. Dirt is also prevented from penetrating into the flooring, that might cause damage and threaten household hygiene. The bottom layer is manufactured with transverse incisions to make it more elastic and flexible to adapt to the substrate surface, in case of any possible imperfections in the sub-floor or existing flooring. |

CHOOSE YOUR TIMBER GRADE
Depending on the grade that you choose for your timber, your floor may feature even or uneven vein patterns and numerous to few knots.
CHOOSE YOUR FLOOR TEXTURE
Pre-finished products are customisable to the surface treatment that you want. Unfinished products are available in a brushed finish with a square or bevelled edge.
SMOOTH
Every plank is shaved to give the wood the elegance and perfection of silk. The surface is even providing a flawless effect which gives the floor a glow and the ability to interact with the light. |
BRUSHED
Planks are rubbed with metal brushes to bring out the natural qualities of the vein pattern. This allows light to interact with the porosity of the timber and emphasise the different colour shades while bringing the timber veins to the surface. |
BRUSHED + BEVELLED EDGE
The beauty and tactile appeal of the brushed treatment above combined with a 45-degree edge around the edges of each plank. This creates clear subdivisions within the laid floor giving it an elegant and authentic Italian look. |
PLANED + BEVELLED EDGE
Each plank is planed as per the timbers characteristics, accentuating and enhancing the beauty of its veins and knots. The flooring feels and looks natural with a worn-in appearance typical of old aged wood, a feature which is again underlined by the bevelled edges. |
HAND SCRAPED + BEVELLED EDGE
A special surface treatment which is handled with care in Italy. Hand-scraped timber floors have been around for centuries. Create old-time warmth and atmosphere with this texture to your flooring. |
